A new book by Marquard Smith (aka my supervisor) called Visual Culture Studies, which contains interviews with Nicholas Mirzoeff, W.J.T. Mitchell, Vivian Sobchack, Giuliana Bruno, Mieke Bal, Hal Foster and Susan Buck-Morss, amongst others, is now available to order. (More details with chapter titles here.)
Back from the Material.Culture.Now Symposium at the Winterthur and subsequent research trip in Delaware and Washington, it has been an unbelievably good trip and I have met many good people.
First thanks to my fellow speakers Jenny, Rebecca, Martina, Hillary and Eric, who were engaged and engaging; to Nicholas and Colleen for organising us all; to Julian (in repetition of the West coast etiquette) for a great response; to Peter for his time and access to a wonderful collection; to the librarians of the Manuscripts and Archives Department at Hagley Museum; and finally to Susan at Smithsonian, for the hands-on experience and the unbelievable level of access to the archives.
